As a freelance writer, editor, and consultant, I have had extensive experience in educational publishing. I worked as an editor for the McGraw- Hill Companies before making the transition to freelance writing. I have written or contributed to several books published in the educational market. I wrote lessons for numerous language arts programs, including SRA's Open Court Reading. I also have experience writing for ESL programs. I have a special interest in researching and writing non-fiction stories.

Having worked in educational publishing for several years, I know the ins and outs of the business. Most of my work is done under a rigorous schedule, so I have no problem with time-sensitive materials. I understand how to write grade level appropriate text, art and photo specifications, and instructions for teachers.

Known for my rapport with clients and colleagues, my organizational skills, and a finished product that is concise and thorough, I have maintained a good relationship with several publishing houses.

My experience also extends to writing and consulting for businesses. I have written several web sites and have consulted with companies to help improve their internal communication.

As a professional member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, I attend local monthly conferences. I also enjoy volunteering at my son's school, helping students to read more fluently and improve their comprehension skills.

I live in Columbus, Ohio with my supportive husband, amazing son, and two sweet golden retrievers. I also belong to the Central Ohio Golden Retriever Rescue organization.
